Lib Dem Councillor successfully campaigns for installment of pedestrian crossings at notorious roundabout
By Derby Liberal Democrats
Lib Dem Cllr Emily Lonsdale has successfully campaigned for the installment of pedestrian crossings at a notorious roundabout on the A511 next to the Kingsway Retail Park. Cllr Lonsdale raised the question in a Full Council meeting in January and the Council confirmed that work would start on the crossings by the end of the year. The roundabout is a complex junction with high traffic levels and is infamous for having a set of traffic lights installed by the Council in 2016, only for them to be turned off shortly afterwards after they were found to make the traffic situation worse. Due to the increase in development on Manor Kingsway however, the use of the roundabout by pedestrians and cyclists is due to increase over the coming years and therefore a safe route to cross it is required. Our councillors will continue to hold the Council to account to ensure this project is completed.
