New Trees on Blagreaves Lane

Over the years, there have been gaps appearing in the trees on the grass verges along Blagreaves Lane.

The Council has recently planted new trees in some of the verges that had no trees.

Sunnydale Park - New Fence

Some time ago the hedge at the Blagreaves Lane entrance to the park was damaged by a vehicle ploughing into it.

In response to a request from Councillor Joe Naitta the Council said it would put fencing along the hedgerow to make a barrier between the park and road. The fencing has recently been installed.

New Path & New Play Area

If you are a regular visitor to Sunnydale Park you will have noticed that a new play area has been created a short distance away from the site of the old play area.

The move has been done in preparation for the flood protection work due in the second half of this year.

A larger low lying area is being created to hold flood water in the pond so that houses near the Cuttle Brook have a much lower risk of flooding. The area on the western side of the pond will be dug out. The existing path will be diverted round the extended flood area.

The funding for this work has come from Government flood defence grants and the EU's European Regional Development Fund.

Dogs in Parks

Councillors Danielle Lind, Joe Naitta and Ruth Skelton have had reports of large dogs being out of control and off the lead in some of our local parks.

Some of these dogs have been aggressive to other dogs. If you have experienced this sort of thing, please contact Danielle, Joe or Ruth.
