More shopping choice for Heatherton?

Dozens of people went to the exhibition about a new supermarket in Heatherton on behalf of Aldi. Their proposal is for a large store behind the Hollybrook Pub, with access directly off Rykneld Road.

Tom Bull said "We've asked lots of people locally for their views. While most welcome more choice, not everyone wants an Aldi. Some think the store is too large. Many dislike the access point or have traffic concerns."

The Council had not received a planning application at time of writing.

More fast food?

Do you have any views about a new fast food outlet in Littleover Village? The council has received a request for change of use for the unit at the top of Shepherd Street, until recently used as offices. Comments will be considered until a decision is taken about 17th Nov. Send comments to the case officer quoting DER/08/18/01222.

Neighbourhood Forum

These are a chance to ask councillors and the police about local issues. Arriva buses are also attending the next meeting to answer questions about cuts to the 5 / 5A service.

7pm Wednesday 14th November at Carlisle Infant School, Carlyle Avenue.

35 Bus

This month there are articles about the 35 bus in Littleover and Mickleover mini advert books. Hopefully more people will now discover the bus - and help keep it running. They can help it either by simply using the only bus from Heatherton to Mickleover, and Littleover to Mickleover, or by donating at (search for 35). It still needs nearly £50 a day.

Burton Road Fire HQ

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue now have their HQ at Ripley and their old HQ on Burton Road is up for sale. The Old Hall is locally listed and local councillors think it should remain. There is space for more building on car parking areas and modern office blocks could be demolished.
