Four Years And Still No Solution For The Assembly Rooms

Four years after the fire closed the Assembly Rooms, the Labour Council STILL aren't any closer to a solution.

Late last year Labour revealed a plan drawn up - at great expense - by consultants. But it quickly became clear local people didn't back Labour's plans. And worse, Labour's 'consultation' wasn't listening to people but trying to persuade them why Labour was right all along.

Cllr Ruth Skelton says "Labour's plans are the worst of all worlds.

"Labour's plan is expensive, slow and doesn't give people what they actually want. We've all seen the pictures from inside showing how little damage there is to key areas. But Labour have wasted time and money coming up with a plan that doesn't meet Derby's needs.

"We need a new plan that'll give Derby the venue it deserves again, ideally by refurbishing and reopening the Assembly Rooms."
