The new traffic lights at Blagreaves Lane End have recently been the scene of a two-car crash. This closed the road for some time.
This is in addition to the increase in rat running that's been seen in front of the shops on the corner. With vehicles coming past the shops in both directions and often narrowly missing people, a crash there too could be only a matter of time. Cllr Ruth Skelton and Cllr Joe Naitta are working with local shops and the Council to make this area safer for pedestrians.
Cllr Ruth Skelton said "This change simply wasn't properly thought through. From day one it was blocking people in to their drives and causing frustrated drivers to take dangerous shortcuts.
Labour need to admit there's still work to be done and try again to make the junction work for everyone."
