The Local Plan is a Council document which sets out where new housing, roads, schools or industry will be sited in Derby. A new Plan is in the process of being developed at the moment. At the different stages of the Plan's progress, consultation takes place. The Council expects to begin a six week consultation in mid-February. It will be available online and paper copies of the documents will be available at the Council House and at local libraries. Areas such as the fields to the south-east of Moorway Lane, beyond Millennium Wood, are very attractive to developers as green field sites.

Cllr Ruth Skelton said "Local people need to be vigilant if they wish to have their views heard."

Last July Cllr Ruth Skelton and Cllr Joe Naitta met with a Highways Officer to agree ways to better manage school parking near the junction with Blagreaves Lane. Ruth and Joe have now been told work will begin on site early in February.

Give Way - New Markings Needed

At the bottom end of Taverners Crescent where it meets with Pavilion Road the white Give Way lines are rather faded. Drivers often don't see them and wrongly think the vehicles on Taverners Crescent have priority. There have been a number of near-collisions.

Cllr Ruth Skelton has asked the Council to re-paint these lines. She has been told that it will be done.
