Since the roadworks at Blagreaves Lane End began last spring, more vehicles have been rat-running across the front of the shops. Before the roadworks, cars and vans would drive from Blagreaves Lane onto Stenson Road instead of waiting in the queue to turn left. Now rat-running vehicles are coming in both directions. So far there haven't been any head-on collisions. The traffic lights seem to have caused a change in drivers' behaviour.

In October local residents and Cllr Ruth Skelton met on site with a Council Officer. He saw for himself how many cars and vans are ratrunning.

Cllr Ruth Skelton and Cllr Joe Naitta have spoken to the shop owners about possible solutions that could make it harder for vehicles to rat-run. "We are now speaking to Council officers about how this could be implemented," said Cllr Ruth Skelton. "Something needs to be done before there's a crash and people get injured."
