Cllr Eric Ashburner Inspecting Labour's Plans for DerbyFor the last eight years council budgets have been cut and cut following the 2008 crash and the need to bring the national deficit down. Over the next three years, Labour's cuts will leave nothing but basic services.

It doesn't have to be like this.

Derby needs services but Labour acts as though the Council must provide everything.

Councillor Eric Ashburner said "Some things can only be provided by the council - but the public, charities and local companies can provide others.

"Government cuts were predictable. Labour should have used the time to change how services are provided, but they have squandered this opportunity. We need to work together to provide efficiently what people want, across the whole of Derby."
