Success for Local Campaign to Reduce Speeds on Residential Roads

February 22, 2016 12:15 PM

Thank you to everyone who has been in touch since the speed limit on Pastures Hill and most of Rykneld Road was reduced to 30mph. Most people are pleased with the change. The speed limit from the city boundary towards the A38 has now also been reduced to 40mph from 60mph.

Some people had worries about space for cyclists, requested more help for pedestrians, were concerned about conflict between parked cars and cyclists at the end of the school day, and wanted more help for people getting out of Swanmore Road. A few people were unhappy with the principle of the lower speed limit.

There will be more changes to the road in the next month or so, and hopefully more later in the year too. As far as possible your concerns will be taken into account.
