Local people get chance to shape city's future

Local people are getting the chance to help shape the future of Derby. Local Liberal Democrats are giving people the chance to have their say on what should be in the Liberal Democrat's next manifesto for the city.

The Liberal Democrats have set up an online survey giving people the opportunity to give their views on each area of council services, such as education, roads and recycling. The views people give will then be used to help draw up the Liberal Democrats manifesto for the city.

Cllr Hilary Jones leader of Derby Liberal Democrat councillors said "As Liberal Democrats we believe in keeping in touch with local people. This consultation gives people in Derby their chance to help shape the ideas and policies that will go into our next manifesto.

"I am looking forward to hearing people's ideas for Derby's schools, public transport, parks and other services.

"Local people pay for council services. It is only right that they should have real influence on the way they are provided."

People can give their views by visiting the online manifesto consultation at http://survey.libdems.org.uk/take/817 or can request a paper copy by writing to Cllr Hilary Jones, Unit 1 24A Great Northern Road, Derby, DE1 1LR.
