A Liberal Democrat alternative for Derby: Call for a rethink on recycling

March 1, 2006 5:52 PM

At the council's budget meeting Derby's Liberal Democrat group will be calling on the Labour council to reinstate the next planned "Rethink Rubbish" recycling scheme. When the Liberal Democrats led Derby City Council they had planned to introduce kerbside recycling to another area of Derby in May. The Labour Council have since cancelled this plan.

Lib Dem Cllr Lucy Care said "The Labour Council say they want to meet recycling targets. How are they going to do this when they are cutting back on recycling schemes?

We are asking the Labour Council to change its mind, show some commitment to the environment and our childrens' future and reintroduce this recycling scheme".
