A Liberal Democrat alternative for Derby: Time for Energy Efficiency at the council

March 1, 2006 5:52 PM

The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Labour Council to increase the number of people working on energy conservation from one to two employees.

Cllr Mike Carr said "Our proposal will save the council money in the medium and long term. By employing two people to work full time on managing the Council's energy efficiency levels, we should save thousands of pounds. Energy bills are spiralling we need to take action to manage the increasing cost of fuel now".

Cllr Les Allen said "The energy companies have been warning for some time now of the large price increases for fuel next year. We also have to reduce the carbon emissions from council buildings, yet the Labour council are missing another opportunity to be responsible and to set an example to the community."
